Why does this happen?

It's really not that complicated - if you think about it normal people, listeners, future fans - people who aren’t musicians themselves are pretty much only used to EVER hearing real records their entire lives. Why didn't your musician friends tell you this? They're probably making the same level of non-record quality music themselves. They can continue to do this, but YOUR music needs to be able to reasonably stand up next to commercial releases to make it onto radio, playlists or stop a potential fan hitting the skip button. The same goes for A&R, playlists, and radio programmers. They just don't understand it, and no matter how good the song - and yes, while the song IS king the regular listener isn't in the business of seeing potential - they want to hear the finished article, a record - NOW. Simply put - if you don’t have material that can stand up proudly next to a commercial release, don't expect amazing results.

A huge part of the plugin market exists because people believe the next new shiny tool with help them to finally make something more like a record, and people spend millions of dollars every year chasing this dream - but no tool is going to substitute for years of experience actually working IN the industry. We then use an interactive revisions platform (Mixup) where you can leave timestamped feedback directly on the audio, ensuring the final record is exactly how you imagined it.

Q: What files do I need to provide for a professional mix? A: To get the best results, please provide consolidated 24-bit WAV files (stems or multi-tracks) starting from the same point (0:00). It is also helpful to include your "rough mix" and think about mentioning 1-2 reference tracks from commercial artists that represent the vibe and frequency balance you are aiming for.

Q: How many revisions are included in the mixing service? A: My goal is to make sure you are 100% proud of the result. Every mix includes multiple rounds of revisions as standard. Most projects are nailed within one to three passes thanks to our detailed pre-mix conversation and the precision of the timestamped feedback platform I use.

Q: Do you offer vocal tuning and timing correction? A: Yes. As a platinum-certified engineer, I understand that the vocal is the heart of the record. I expect the vocal to arrive ready to mix, but I will do minor vocal tuning (Melodyne) and timing correction (pocketing) of things like backing vocalsincluded in the mixing service to ensure your performance sounds world-class while remaining natural.

Q: What is the typical turnaround time for a mix? A: I typically deliver the first high-resolution mix draft within 7 days of receiving your files. If you have a specific deadline or a tight release schedule, please mention it during our initial consultation so we can ensure your release stays on track.
